Death Note Anime to Air on Adult Swim

September 21st, 2007

The Adult Swim network in the United States has confirmed on its online message boards that it will premiere the Death Note supernatural suspense anime series on October 20 at 12:00 a.m. The network had previously posted a television schedule with that timeslot’s program title blacked out, but also broadly hinted that it would be Death Note. Adult Swim sub-licensed the series from Viz Media, which also releases the original manga series. The Viz Pictures live-action film affiliate will release the two live-action films.

24 Notes to “Death Note Anime to Air on Adult Swim”

Thank God! I was praying that it would be shown on Adult Swim!! I can’t wait to see how the English version compares to the excellent Japanese version. =)

Nooo! I’ve heard the english voice actors they don’t fit

- kurai. September 21st, 2007 at 9:52 am

That is cool, so it’s only one month away instead of two months away. Show is first shown on Oct 20 and the dvd is released Nov 20.

Note: The voices in the dub preview trailer have been confirmed as NOT being the voices for the actual dub.

- killerfly. September 22nd, 2007 at 8:22 am

Wow, really? You mean the voices in the trailer they arent keeping? I wonder if they got enough bad feed back that they backed out of that, hahaha.

Now i REALLY have to hear these english VAs. Gah… so much that we have to wait on! Its killing me inside! Patients in a virtue alright! *tear*

- Zank. September 22nd, 2007 at 10:25 am

Oh my GOSH I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!! Especially now that I know those horrible voices in the trailer aren’t the real ones…
oh dg.org, how I adore you for your updates…
You guys are the best.

- noir. September 22nd, 2007 at 10:45 am

i was hoping sci-fi channel would get it. sci-fi has more freedom than adult swim does and they need some cannon, seeing as how adult swim not only has to wait till 12 am, but have cartoon network on its ass.

“Note: The voices in the dub preview trailer have been confirmed as NOT being the voices for the actual dub.”

That’s comforting, Thanks. I might give it a shot now.

- kurai. September 23rd, 2007 at 12:44 am

that’s is just amazing! sweet, now I really can’t wait for the English version!

- X. September 23rd, 2007 at 4:40 pm

Light’s voice in the teaser trailer IS the voice actor from the series. i can tell from the other things he’s been in. maybe L’s voice is different though. personally i thought Light’s english voice in the teaser was ace, but L’s was like beyond terrible.

- K. September 27th, 2007 at 11:33 am

Funny, I liked L’s voice in the teaser better than Light’s. The voice for Light in the teaser was by far the worst possible choice they could have EVER given him

Um. Genocidal mastermind murderer anyone? He has to have a deeper more ’sinister’ voice. Not some dorky average teen. Dont forget, he is pratically a college student; barely anytime in which he is in high school in the anime. So that weak little scronny voice with no sinister or evilness to it (and really, its quite hard to get that insane/sinister type of voice with such choice) is not Light at all. Honestly, he’s not some teenager going through puberty, he’s an evil mastermind!

- Zank. September 28th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

I really wish I could edit. Anyways, I forgot to add; that is why I am glad they announced that the voices in the trailer are not the official ones. I dont want to be stuck with the voice of a teenager still going through puberty.

- Zank. September 28th, 2007 at 6:59 pm

guys im a Light fan too. i was definitely on his side through the entire manga, but seriously, he isnt as sinister as you think. he’s a bored angsty teen. they got his voice right for that. when he needs to SOUND sinister he will, you cant judge that off a quick teaser with made up dialogue. but for the character he is, they got the voice perfect.

- Dylan. October 2nd, 2007 at 4:56 pm

ugh…looking forward to it.

- Arwen. October 7th, 2007 at 6:13 pm

They have the first episode up on AdultSwim’s website. It’s good. All the background voices (teachers, students, newscasters) is great, and Light’s voice (not the one from the trailer, thank GOD) is almost perfect. They kind of ruin it by adding many, many more lines of dialouge then the original anime had. Ryuk’s voice is way, way too deep and they make his dialouge far to formal. An acceptable dub, but I think I’ll stick with the Japanese.

- Jonathan. October 20th, 2007 at 8:48 am

FINALLY Death Note comes to america!! I’m so glad that its here and I already like it.

- Brittany. October 22nd, 2007 at 9:35 am

To what K said….
Oh god, yes I will die too.
Dubbed animes suck. I hate it that it’s coming to american mainstream! DX
Noooooooo! I hate hot topic and I hate the mainstream. And then the wannabe otakus that only watch the animes on T.V. -__-

- Jeshiku. October 26th, 2007 at 4:54 am

^ I so totally agree with you! I just hope it doesn’t turn into anything like the Naruto fancraze, where there are little ten year olds running around pretending they’re Naruto or Sasuke or Kakashi or something. x_x
I’m watching it atm, and in my opinion, I don’t think this dub is giving it justice. It’s so odd hearing Light instead of Raito.

- tammylui. October 27th, 2007 at 9:11 pm

this is an awsome show!!! i really like all of the physc and thought in it!! not that but all of the morals as well!!!

- arms. December 4th, 2007 at 4:54 am
