Awesome! I was wondering if they were going to release that or not. I’m glad, now I can have the full thing~
- Zank. June 24th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
they are supposedly releasing The BB serial murder case and (Blue Dragon) Ral Grad(o) (they removed part of the name) in february as well so I have a feeling it’s some kind of special Takeshi Obata month or something. They may be doing something with hikaru no go probably that month as well (like removing it from the magazine and making it a bimonthly series like shaman king is becoming which would make sense because hikaru no go is made up of a “special” group of fans from north americans (aka not everyone likes it)(i do though)) only time will tell though. I hope there is a Special edition though!!!!! PLEASEXD

I’m so glad that they’re releasing How to Read. I hope they still have the extras like the L name card and I would love if they released the special edition one too~ I really hope they do.

Wasn’t it only a limited-time thing in Japan?
Halleluiah, anyway.

The official Viz site has a trialer for Death Note anime with the dub voices. I practically vomited listening to it; these are the absolute worst voices they could have done. Light sounds like the kid who bags your groceries at the store, and L sounds like….well, he sounds frickin terrible. Paired with the god-awful dialouge, I’d rather be dismembered then watch this dub. You can view the trailer, if you dare, at this link:

Hooray for the final episode. Though looking at what others have said on tv.com, it looks like they’ve completely removed the final chapter from the manga. A plus, though, is it seems like Misa’s future has been explained clearer as opposed to the manga, which doesn’t explain what happens to her until volume 13.

Beautiful ending to the Death Note series. Seriously, best ending of any show I’ve ever seen.
Perfection.

Oh God, I would love something on Hikaru no Go. That is one of my top animes. Thats what got me first interested in Death Note; not the popularity (in all honestly, I didnt realize it was as popular as it was at the time) but the artist! Since Hikaru no Go was on the top of my favorite animes until Death Note came out… now its going to be nearly impossible to replace it as my top anime… Hikaru’s been up there for, what, three years now? Haha.
Anyways, i cant wait for the sub! The final episode of Death Note… its been a nice run! And luckly, i believe Higurashi is starting up again next week. Which is great timing, because I have really been into the horror lately. Though, I am going to miss Death Note… until the english dub comes out!
- Zank. June 27th, 2007 at 12:08 am
Ruberia released the sub already. (Damn, that was fast.)

Wow, the anime version has a more dramatic feel to it than the manga. I’ll let the fact that they skipped some details in the second arc slide just for the great ending. It also changes the details of the ending slightly but it concludes the same way.
- FalconX. June 27th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Ok, Tainted and I are preparing an SRT subititle file for episode 37, but we need another translator to finish translating some parts. If you’re interested please write to cadsubs@gmail.com so we can get in touch.
- CaD. June 27th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
Aww, they cut some really good things out of the manga for the ending. I wanted to see more wicked face extortions!
Man, this is so sad… very depressing… that its over! I really wish they stretched it out to 52 episodes. The best anime/manga of all time. I dont know what i’m going to do now! Good luck finding anything that can match it…
But I am glad to hear of a special! I hope its good and covers things I’ve really wanted to know. But still… the only thing that is going to get me by now is the english dub. Manga is over, anime is over, all thats left is for the dubbed anime… *sniff*
- Zank. June 27th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
I really wished they followed the manga’s ending T_T Though I am still confused by it….

I must say, I prefer this ending, manga’s ending was sort of STUPID LIGHT, YOU SUCK, anime’s ending feels …DAMN… IT WAS A GOOD RUN, YOU SCREWED UP AND GOT CHEATED BUT IT WAS GOOD…

I had a feeling they would have a different styled ending myself. I mean, who really wants to watch the EXACT thing that you saw in the manga? Though, I do perfer the manga version better. Why? It left a mark. This ending didnt leave me with much. The manga, on the other hand, REALLY socked it to you. It was a masterpiece, completely unexpected, and left you thinking, wanting. I can’t explain my feelings on the manga’s ending quite that well, but i know i wont EVER forget it. It was so powerful! I did like some of the differences in the anime, but the manga just had something… unique. Though I do agree, this one didnt make Light look COMPLETELY stupid.
I look back and realize he could have won if he JUST didnt lose it… i mean… that secret note in his watch. I doubt they would have figured it out and when no one expected it, he could have written their names down. Writing small is the key! Or when he fell over, instead of doing it right there, he could have acted like he was in pain while he was writing the rest of Nears name down. SO MANY WAYS HE COULD HAVE WON!! He just had to lose it though…
The ending song makes sense if you think about it. “Pride comith before the fall”, where as Light is going up, and up, and up in the elevator and then his pride is crushed and he falls from the building.

I finally got a chance to watch the last episode <– since I was sick for the last few days. But, in either case, I liked the manga ending better than the anime since the anime ending just ended like a sad thing, but the manga really was different and intense. I agree with Zank on that totally that it really did leave its mark, the anime ending though wasn’t quite so much…
- admin. June 29th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
Come on, that just had to happen and the author ran out of ideas >_> *gets shot*
I mean… Zank has a point, come on, even asking “since you wrote the LAST name, how much time has passed?” would have saved him, giving him at least 3 secs of advantage, also, asking Mikami to write ONLY SPK’s names would have saved him… ARHG
- Resso. June 30th, 2007 at 8:38 am
@ Resso & Zank
Yeah I agree…there were SO many ways Light could’ve won but nooo he had to lose it at the very end…I don’t know how the manga ended but I’ll be sure to borrow it from friends or something

See, I feel the ending was genius, but at the same time, I felt cheated, you know? Now hear me out. The reason I feel cheated is that there was no way for Near to usually win. First of all, the only reason Near and Mello even got as far as they did is because of L himself! If L didnt do all that, no one would have even heard of the Death Note (Near and Mello learned of it by a police officer who reported hearing something about a Note that could kill during the Higuchi incident)! That is what Near and Mello used to narrow in on the Japanese police (where has L had to go through hell to learn about its existance, and given the current state of the world and Light’s position, that opening was not available for Near and Mello). Imagine how far the two could have gotten any other way? But thats not all! Light’s plan was PERFECT. In every way shape and form; even Near admitted that himself. It would have been another pefect victory like against L. But if 1) Mello didnt act and 2) Mikami actually LISTENED to Light (hell, screw Mello, if Mikami listened PERIOD, Mello’s little tactic would have been pointless), Near would have fallen into his trap and Light would have won. Think about it, even Rem and Misa were smarter; they did just as Light wanted them without straying from it. This caused Light’s plan to work out perfectly. This plan, also would have went over perfectly, in fact, even MORE perfect, if Mikami just listened and didnt do anything. As it states in the manga, Mikami’s loyality is what screwed Light over. All in all, Near is NOTHING compared to L, in my opinion. Because he only beat Light through L and Mello’s help. THAT is what makes me feel cheated.
—
But please also understand that I love the ending and Light winning probably would have made the ending less… memerable. It was pure genius in every shape and form and probably the best ending I ever did see. The way it ended in the manga left a deep mark and well, ever since i read it, my mind has been on Death Note since! I cant stop thinking about it! That is how much of an impact it had on me. Maybe a little obsessed hu? But I just can’t help it…
—
But there is one thing I cant understand… why, if Light had Mello’s real name that entire time, didn’t he write his name down long ago? Or, at the very least, had Mikami or Takada do it? They could have made it so Mello dissapeared all together and killed himself. This, alone, would have insured Light’s perfect victory. But above all, I find it HALARIOUS how someone with a weapon like the Death Note, could EVER be caught, ya know? If only Light didnt keep taunting L… the world would eventually have summitted to Light and L would have no longer been needed… instead of letting L know he could get into the polices personal data.
—
Anyways, enough rambling from me. Please, forgive me for doing so. I am unlucky enough to not have any Death Note fans in which I can speak to about such matters and so, like with any great series or book when you just have to tell SOMEONE about it and vent out all your feelings (good and bad, almost as if it was a part of your life!), I needed to do that here. People may dissagree, or agree. But whatever. I just love this series so much!

@Zank
I wouldn’t say rem and misa was smarter but more submissive and easily manipulated. I would assume smarter people are harder to fool. If misa was smart she would know that light was toying with her.
Light didn’t know Near’s name he only knew it after he saw it written down by Mikai and Near showed him.
One more thing, something interesting or pointless, is a theme in all anime that good always wins over evil. Therefore light is…
- Heero. July 2nd, 2007 at 10:53 pm
so like, is there gonna be a release from C&D sometime or have they decided to drop death note for the last episode >.>
- Kerath. July 4th, 2007 at 5:47 am
@Heero: Did I say Near? If so, I meant “Mello”. He knew Mello’s name way before hand, obviously, since he gave it to Takada to write down incase anything happens. WHich is a name he should have had written down long ago so that Mello wouldnt have gotten Mikami to act by interveining (But Light, being too egotistical, didnt think Mello was a threat…). Its just one more way Light could have won (think about it, if Mello didnt kidnap Takada, Mikami would have never went to get the ‘real’ Death Note and thus, Near would have lost).
And I was refering to smarts between Mikami vs. Misa and Rem. Mikami thought the ’smart’ thing to do, was disobey Light’s plan and kill Takada. Where as Misa and Rem thought the ’smart’ thing to do, was sit by and let Light’s plan unfold no matter what happens. Sorry if that was unclear…
- Zank. July 5th, 2007 at 1:04 am
Wow ^^. I liked the sad music at the end, with light running and all. I think, overall, the anime made it a litte more dramatic, but I still think the manga’s was better.
I mean, it was a powerful scene with Light escaping and running out of breath with the sun shining on him, but not quite as powerful as him begging on his knees to Ryuk, screaming, “I DON’T WANT TO DIE! DON’T LET ME DIE!” and such. He kept calling out for everyone to shoot the others and he realised that he had nobody on his side.
I also prefer the fact the Ryuk personally told Light that he had obviously lost, that the whole thing had begun just for his personal enjoyment.
But anyways ^^. I can’t wait for Viz to start releasing the DVDs. Yay extras!
- ai_np_eien. July 5th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
when will C&D release the last eps.?
- Soldats. July 6th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
@ai_np_eien:
I agree. Light crying out to Mikami, Misa and Takada and Near’s repsonces was a REALLY power scene along with Light screaming to live. The anime ending was dramatic and nice, but just not as powerful.
Yeah! October right? I can hardly wait for the Viz DVDs!

http://bt.saiyaman.info/, the second torrent says Death Note Tokubetsu Hen, but mine is taking forever to download, has anyone else seen this?
- ally. July 11th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
@ ally,I downloaded it,and it’s some sort of making of Death Note show, you mainly get to see the voice actors and some images of the anime and how they did the voices in the voice studio.
And the rest they the actors are just talking with each other I think about the anime and stuff.
Anyways that’s what I saw after taking a quick look.
