Viz Pictures Licenses Live-Action Death Note Films
September 19th, 2007
Viz Pictures, Viz Media’s affiliate for live-action film releases, has announced that it has licensed the Death Note supernatural suspense feature and the Death Note: The Last Name companion film. The two movies retell the main story of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s Death Note manga with some original elements. Viz Media already licensed both the manga and the anime adaptation. The films will play at Austin’s Fantastic Fest 2007 (September 20-27) and the 2007 Vancouver Asian Film Festival (November 1-4). More theatrical showings are planned, as well as DVD releases in the summer of 2008.

Death Note Special Sub Update:
Kuro-Hana is slowly working on a sub for the special, which contains 1700 lines of dialouge, although it’s mostly the first half of the special which needs to be translated. They are currently looking for translators.

As you can see, they want to finish DMC first and Kenichi to be finished,so it’s not their top priority at this moment.

The special has been stalled again, because of staff problems and time.
They want to finish DMC now first, and probably take a few weeks off to rest after that.
