This is going to be so horrible. There are already 2 (that I know of) live action Death Note movies, and they are amazing. This one is going to star Zac Effron as Light. Come on, we definitely don’t need a cutesy uppity teenie idol to play a sinister role like Light.

I’m not categorically against adaptations. BUT. Hollywood is going under. It’s retreading the same old sequel, remake, “run successful material into the ground” pattern that we’ve been seeing for years. At the very least, I hope they gave Ohba and Obata a hefty sum for the rights to DN. But really, I wish they weren’t even attempting this.

At least it’s WB than others. WB won’t totally mess it up thank god.

This is going to suck! Why would they do this to us! I want to cry now!

I’m not a fan of Zac Effron or High school Musical but common guys lets give Zac a chance if he is selected as Light. He has the looks as Light but his acting skills to portray the character were in question to many so this would be a challenge for him as an actor. If he can understand and put himself to Light’s way of thinking and behavior well I think he can manage the role.
As for Hollywood remake I know that Light and L battle is an epic but I hope they should see the possibilities on other DN stories like the pilot chapter, (after reading this it gives me the chill feeling at the end of the story) the BB Los Angeles murder case, another L mystery solve case/L-movies or just simply make a Death note based story that describes more horrors of it or a person who make a pack with the death reaper perhaps. In this way people can watch something different and unique from what’s already seen in the Anime, Manga or Japanese films.
